The Sondriavision Song Contest 2019 will be the ninth edition of the Sondriavision Song Contest. It will be held in Great Scorria after the country achieved its first win in the contest.

Kimberly will be the host city with the Kimberly Host Center being the venue. The semi-finals will be on February 12 and 14 and the final on 16.

Host selection[edit | edit source]

Three venues were put into place, considering Great Scorria's population size of 4.5 million. These were:

  • Kimberly Host Center, Kimberly
  • Triton Mermen stadium, Triton
  • Coastal Hall, Ajoe

The Kimberly Host Center was then selected for its wider capability compared to the two other choices. It is expected that the contest will also create an incentive for Great Scorrian tourism in Kimberly and the rest of the country.

Participating countries[edit | edit source]

Semi-final 1[edit | edit source]

The first semi-final opened with a show devoted to indigenous culture in Great Scorria, including the modern-day "society salad", as mentioned by showrunner Leonard Bosley. Each of the representatives held their national flags in Naenian style, with the central part of the stage inspired by the Great Scorrian flag. The opening act ends with one of the main presenters in the central part of the saltire.

The interval act will be a live performance of The X. Ten countries will qualify.

Withdrawals[edit | edit source]

  • Joseon: Despite hopes for a new participation due to the slow Westernization of the country influenced by Manchuria, the country still refuses to take part as it is not yet capable of having decent mobile and internet networks and therefore withdrawn. A second visit of the Joseonian and Sierran presidents is to be held on February 26, and Sondriavision is another reason pertaining to the "surprise effect" that Joseonians aren't aware of during live broadcasts.
  • Persia: In accordance with an e-mail sent by the SBU to the IRPB, a planned Valentine's Day segment on the second semi-final triggered the country's withdrawal. The IRPB says that it won't broadcast the contest at all, a violation of the SBU policy of cultural unity.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Disqualification of Porowon and political causes[edit | edit source]

Porowon was on the "bottom 10", as it did not qualify for the final. However, people began to believe that the primary cause was due to Porowon's seemingly unstable relations with Great Scorria, the host country.
