Great Scorria
Great Scorria, oficially (but rarely commonly) known as the Federated States of Great Scorria is a country located in Northulia. It is the continent's fifth most-populated country.
History[edit | edit source]
Ancient history[edit | edit source]
Great Scorria's history traces back to ancient times millennia ago. What is known is that the Naenian tribes emerged as groups of merpeople began travelling actoss the Northulic Ocean into what is now Great Scorria. King Taorae was born in 2990 BCE.
The country was technically inhabited by Lasgra, Micronesian and Malayan-Polynesian tribes. According to many reputable local sources, this mixture of ethnic groups was already in the main island at the start of the first millennium. Lasgra encyclopedias say that there were many unorganized Lasgra kingdoms and Naenian city-states.
In 1106, the famous Naenian city-state of Pamaronai was created.
Colonization and independence[edit | edit source]
Throughout the 16th century, various Eurectipherian trading posts were established across the northern coast of the modern-day country. The trading post of Scorria was established by Michillians close to the modern-day Kimberly in 1724, fifty years later it was upgraded into a separate independent country when Barnaby Popenstien united some of these trading posts and expanded further inland. Depsite the pressure, the president ordered to control a part of the country.
In 1778, Barnaby left the country and was forced to move to the Michillies, his son, John Popenstien, became the country's second president.
It was technically the first country in Northulia to become its own sovereign state, more than a hundred years before Northulia and the New Michillies did the same.
Following the Second World War, the trading posts had left Great Scorria, leaving 100% of its territory in sovereign control.
Modernization[edit | edit source]
In 1986, New Democracy won the parliamentary elections and proceeded to an overhaul of the country. The infrastructure had to be replaced in order to show progress. The plan was inspired by the development of the Lenaporean economy and they said that this could easily be emulated by Great Scorria.
Government and politics[edit | edit source]
Great Scorria, as a federative presidential republic, has two presidents: a national president and a state president. The national president has direct control over the country's actions. Presidential elections are held every four years in November.
There are four political parties: National, Conservative, New Democracy and Unity. The government has also made the Anarchist Party illegal for a few years.
Great Scorria has the National Chamber and the National Senate. There are also ten regional parliaments, one for each state.
