The Hopelandian Song Contest is a participatory contest created in the wake of increased Hopelandian interest for the Eurectivision Song Contest and the downfall in the quality of the Sierravision Song Contest, put on hold until at least 2022. In it all states and territories must have to submit its own song. The contest, owing to the number of states and territories Hopeland has (25 states and 4 territories) will consist of just one semi-final and a final with the Big 5 (the five largest states by GDP) taking part directly, and at least ten of the states and territories will have to qualify.
Initially the contest was supposed to be called Hopevision Song Contest but many policymakers thought that the name was "too religious".
