Aoshi, oficially the Republic of Aoshi, is an insular country in Sondria.

The national flower of Aoshi is the plum blossom natively known as the 쿠후나니아 (Kufunania or Kuhunania, in native Aoshian dialects).

History[edit | edit source]

Ancient times[edit | edit source]

The islands around the modern-day country of Aoshi were inhabited by Chakan merpeople, led by King Nihe, distant from the Aoshian mainland. Human settlements appeared around 1000 BC. It is believed that the first human settlers were Lasgras.

By the year 1400, Aoshi's population consisted of a handful of indigenous tribes, including Lasgras, Chakans and Hansoms, as well as a limited number of Kaizhungese traders. Within a couple of centuries, a new power would take over the country.

Korean colonization[edit | edit source]

In 1632 Aoshi's territory was scrmbled by numerous colonial powers, the Michillians, the Realese, the Daehanians and the Underlandians. The Daehanians were much more important in the colonization of the territory.

The Echu attacks and founding of Ilyu[edit | edit source]

After a delayed attack on behalf of the potential commander of the attacks, Daehanian forces attacked the Echo region in 1810. As a consequence, the Daehanians had to establish new cities with Korean names. The city of Ilyu was founded and served as the capital of the new unified Aoshian province.

Between 1810 and 1846, much of the old Aoshi was destroyed and the Chakans were expelled from the mainland, becoming "accursed people". However, attempts of dialoging with the Aoshi people were established as early as 1821.

Attaining sovereignty[edit | edit source]

On February 2, 1936, Aoshi became a sovereign country for the first time.

Orience attacks[edit | edit source]

Back to normality[edit | edit source]

When Orience surrendered, Aoshi's sovereignty resumed. A new constitution was enacted in 1946 as well as the adoption of the new Aoshian self-governing rule. Under the new rules, Aoshi became a constitutional republic, with the president acting under symbolic rule and the prime minister taking over the decisions. A new assembly was set up.

Democracy[edit | edit source]

Aoshi formally became a democracy in 1985. The country reinstated multi-party elections in the same year. This was to be followed by a series of economic measures.

Aoshi joined ASESON in 1990.

Government and politics[edit | edit source]

Aoshi is a republic. It has a president and a prime-minister. Elections for both are held every four years.

International relations[edit | edit source]

The country is in good standing with Orience, a fact that hampered its relations with Daehan for many years.

The Aoshian culture keeps most of the characteristics prior to the annexation of the islands by the Daehanian Empire in the 18th century. The official languages are Aoshian and Korean. Both languages are also used in work yet Korean is the main language now, spoken by an estimated 80% of the population, 60% as a first language.

Sports[edit | edit source]

The most popular sport in Aoshi is baseball. Aoshi has the second-largest league in the region, below that of Ishigaki, and above Lenapore. It is common to see players from Aoshi trade between the national league and the Lenaporean and Ishigakian leagues.

Rugby is the second most-popular sport, and has the most active league in the ASESON region. Its national team is known as the All Greens, an allusion to the All Blacks of the New Michillies. Recently, most matches of the All Greens and individual teams start with hakas.

Association football comes in third place. It has its own league, the Hyundai A-League.
