Eco-Paradise Television
Eco-Paradise Television is the second legal local television channel to operate in Eumoritown. It is operated by the Eco-Paradise Broadcasting Corporation and has most of its programming sourced from University of Wembley Broadcasting.
History[edit | edit source]
Eco-Paradise FM had applied for a television license in 1999, yet it was plagued by numerous issues, mainly the lack of technological and economical resources. The only solution was to repurpose Eco-Paradise Broadcasting as a private, commercial enterprise. Futher uncertainties included the takeover of the UHF frequencies it tended to use (33, 36, 42) to Star Television, who started its television broadcasts in October 1999.
In 2000, Star Television shut down and Eco-Paradise Television was awarded a license to operate. The Star TV UHF frequencies were going to be used by Eco-Paradise Television: the local channel, on UHF 33, would be a mix of local programming with partner University of Wembley Broadcasting, 36 would be a relay of NBS World and 42 would be a relay of IBC from Flarland. Broadcasts started on November 4, 2001, from 4pm to midnight. Noontime weekday broadcasts started in March 2003.
In June 2004 it broadcast UEFA Eurecti 2004 matches for the first time and repeated the same endeavor with the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2006 FIFA World Cup, both played in Hartung.
The station moved, in tandem with its radio operations, to the purpose-built Eumoritown Media Center in early 2012, which was shared with IBC and the EBC replacement Eumorimedia, which joined in September.
The channel started broadcasting in widescreen and HD in September 2012. The 7:15 news moved to 7pm, mirroring the switch from the EBC to Eumorimedia.
Starting on March 16, 2020, the channel was put under "voluntary quarantine" due to an "alarming report" being spread online. The Flarlandian Communications Commission gave power to the Eumoritonian government to suspend its broadcasts until April 16. When it resumed, up until the evening of April 20, broadcasts were limited to a reduced period (19:15 to 20:45). The channel later resumed regular broadcasts with all local programs being produced with prior supervision.
On January 1, 2021, the supervision period ended and the channel resumed live news.
