Neighbours is a Northulian television soap opera produced since 2018 by the reformed Grundy, an international unit of Fremantle for soaps. It was initially shown on Seven in 1985 but lack of viewer interest resulted in the series moving to Ten in 1986, where it became a smash hit and helped popularize international superstars like Kylie Minogue, whose first step towards international stardom was in a record-breaking wedding episode.

Currently first-run episodes are shown on Ten's sister channel 10 Beautiful (formerly Eleven and 10 Peach). The series has been sold to more than a hundred countries worldwide and is currently popular in a handful of them.

Unfortunately due to rejection from new Nashlandian broadcasters and increasedd involvement of the local broadcasters in new local content, Fremantle is pulling the plug on Neighbours later this year. All channels still broadcasting Neigbours will stop running it when the commissioned episodes run out by the end of the year, depending on houw the broadcasters treat it.

Broadcast[edit | edit source]

Ashtalaia[edit | edit source]

The show arrived to Ashtalaia in June of 1993, on what was then known as TV4, a commercial television channel operated by Vico. Working on the Ashtalaian dub of the series started several months earlier at Vico's dubbing studio. TV4 was broadcasting from annexed facilities and had to sell four hours of its evening slot (prime time) to IBC's Network 7 from Flarland. Once this turned out to be inefficient, TV4 was given access to the 7-11pm time slots and proceeded to put Neighbours at 6:30pm before the news. Many Ashtalaian viewers unoficially watched the soap on FBC 1 for several years since the Ashtalaian broadcasts were several years behind - about eight years - and the Ashtalaian broadcast had to churn out as many episodes possible. By November 1994, TV4 was airing the wedding episode - criticizing TV4's "empty entertainment" in the first few years following the liberalization of broadcast television - seven and a half years on delay, with many Ashtalaians claiming to have seen it on Flarlandian television in the past. On January 8th, 1995, TV4 shut down and was replaced by a new channel, Your TV, broadcasting from new facilities yet keeping the extant imported content, and plans to boost ratings implicated showing two episodes of Neighbours daily and back-to-back. After two years, it was spared down to one episode, and moved to the daytime slots where it faired considerably better. In 1998 it began broadcasting on Nama (At Home), a sister channel aimed at women mainly broadcasting telenovelas from all over the world - where they started airing older episodes from the now-defunct Vico dubbing studio. In November of 1994, work of the dub moved to Super Sound Facility.

A Hayastelari dub of it airs on Your H, formerly it aired on TVI/NTI, and later Kanal 4.

Bensonia[edit | edit source]

The series arrived to the Sentry Broadcasting Corporation in November 1986. It is currently the network's most-lucrative import, competing against Home and Away on NTS. Same-day reruns can be seen on Sentry Entertainment.

Flarland[edit | edit source]

Neighbours arrived to Flarlandian television in March of 1987, shown in the middle of the afternoon before children's programming. FBC scheduling director Mark Pearce had heard of news coming in from Nashland and Saria that the soap opera has attained unexpectedly high viewing figures a few weeks after it premiered on NBS 1, as a result they asked the FBC to start negotiating the series to air on FBC 1.

FBC 1 stopped airing Neighbours in December of 1997. University of Wembley Broadcasting has bought exclusive first-run rights of it and Home and Away, and Neighbours was supposed to be a good lead-in between Neighbours and the news on Channel 14. As part of the deal, Channel 13 would repeat the evening's episode the following working day and create a Saturday omnibus like the one created for Home and Away on Sundays.

Ratings of the show on Channel 14 are usually double of those from Home and Away - while over eight million viewers a day tune to Home and Away, making it the most-viewed show on the channel, Neighbours usually gets around sixteen million viewers, usually ending up in first place on the channel. The series jas also benefitted from the recent stagnancy of Home and Away. As of 2018, Flarland is Neighbours' top international market.

Henleys[edit | edit source]

Until 2000, the series aired on Television Broadcasts, the state-run broadcaster. HUB TV then took the rights along with Home and Away. Episodes are shown at 6:30pm.

Pakifas[edit | edit source]

The series has been airing on VOP One since 1987. It shown with a few weeks of delay from Metropolitan Flarland although it is geographically close to Northulia.

10Beautiful is available on PTC subscription packages, yet in recent years watching the series on Northulian channels might be considered a sign of piracy.

Port Merwin[edit | edit source]

PMBC Television broadcasts episodes on a few weeks of delay.

Eumoritown[edit | edit source]

The series was broadcast by EBC Television from September 1993. In 2003 the series moved to Eco-Paradise Television where it currently airs at 6:30pm after Home and Away. Reruns of older episodes can often be found on sister channel Eco-Paradise Sports when no sports events are being broadcast.

Yawnaro[edit | edit source]

The series airs on the television service of the Yawnaro Radio Council five times a week, Mondays-Fridays at 6:15pm. The YRC broadcasts the show through a recording of the previous working day's episode from HUB TV under legal arrangement. It, like Home and Away, is known by everyone.

Great Scorria[edit | edit source]

The series first aired on TV One, it now airs on TVGS 2 before Home and Away.

On cable and satellite, reruns of the older seasons were shown on Showtime's defunct ShowSoap channel.
