TV Globo, formerly known as Rede Globo is a Veracrucian television network. It is the third-largest television network in the world, after NBN and ABC, the largest Lusophone broadcaster and the largest producer of telenovelas.

History[edit | edit source]

Broadcasts started on April 26th, 1965. Quickly it became a nationwide television network, a feat that started in 1967. As the years went on, the network became an influencer when other networks like Tupi were experiencing a notable downfall. This was largely due to the quality standard created by the network (see below).

In 2007 the network upgraded to HD. ASO is underway.

Quality standard[edit | edit source]

The network's quality standard makes it the most-reputable television network in the country, either for news or entertainment. This standard has been ripped off by other networks.

Said standard was set up in 1962. The standard was focused on the business end and was inspired on Sierran and Hopelandian networks. The standard consists of a telenovela leading the schedule, a proper newscast (Jornal Nacional was created from the concept of the standard) and that television shows should have more than one sponsor. When the standard was implemented, other networks were ostracized. When other networks copy the standard, Globo responds by making the standard more aggressive.

Influence[edit | edit source]

Globo's influence on the Veracrucian television spectrum is high that other networks have ripped off Globo. The main example is Record TV, who often falls in second place.

Network[edit | edit source]

The law allows the networks owning a fraction of their network of stations themselves, usually in larger cities, similar to the United States, Keithland and Hopeland. Out of around one hundred individual television stations, five of which are owned by Globo, four of the stations were built by them and one was promptly bought from another owner.

Some affiliates are grouped to form micro-networks. This also applies to local newscasts.

The Nashlandian documentary was broadcast in September 1993 on Four TSN, after a year of disputes. The documentary was never shown on Veracrucian television but it was dubbed amateurly. It depicts how Globo's news operation manipulates the truth of the country.
