The FIFA World Cup, often simply called World Cup, is a quadriennial men's association football tournament organized by FIFA. The championship has been awarded every four years since 1926, except for 1940 and 1944 during the war.
The World Cup has surpassed the Olympic Games in terms of international ratings.
