Nangaadu (IPA: /naŋaːdu/) is a Lenaporean Xalxan television series, produced by Xalxas filmmaker Kanrie Pangai through his production company Pangai Entertainment. Nangaadu is the first Xalxas-language television series, commissioned for the Xalxas Broadcasting Corporation in 2007, before it started broadcasting. Nangaadu was first broadcast in October 2008.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Xetri, a peasant, is convinced by a village elder to join an illicit organization. Moohawan, the elder, claims that the organization can help control the entire village and give certain people powers. Xetri tries to find the meaning of lies.

Characters[edit | edit source]

  • Xetri: A 31-year old peasant who was tricked into the elder's guild.
  • Moohawan: The village elder.
  • Watraya: An undersea wanderer who is the village's sender, usually appearing by the coast.
  • Mattaya Nasghedamus: A spy of the Lasgra god Nasghedamus (his surname suggests so).

The series started production in September 2007, filming was set in most of the Nodho region of the Xalxas Autonomy.

Since Nangaadu is a television series, it received MDA funding.

Xalxas Autonomy[edit | edit source]

The series first aired on October 5th, 2008 and ran for nine episodes of half an hour each, attracting an estimated 40,000 viewers, roughly three quarters of the Xalxan population at the time. The series was broadcast on Sunday evenings.

Elsewhere[edit | edit source]

The series was picked up by LPBS in January of the following year, but failed to make expectations. Later that year, Mediacorp (who also has a good relationship with XBC) aired it on Okto during the oktonite strand, at 9pm.

Nosghel[edit | edit source]

The series aired on state-run Lasgra Television in 2017.
