The diplomatic relations between Flarland and the People's Republic of Kaizhung have been toxic lately, and the tipping point was the 2020 recognition of Kaizhung as an "illegal state", saying that the country caused the pandemic to start. Ties won't be restarted until the country becomes a democracy.

Pandemic[edit | edit source]

In March 2020, high numbers of Flarlandian politicians started referring to the coronavirus pandemic as the Kaizhungese virus, straining diplomatical ties between the two countries. Theories have surface saying that "the pandemic plunged the world to a global dictatorship" and that "all Kaizhungese will be eradicated from Flarlandian soil". When Parker Scott, primary user of the term, announced the government that it was cutting unilateral ties with the PRK, the country retaliated and blocked all Flarlandian shows and imports to it.

There was also some fallout of this deal in overseas territories. The Oriencian and Nosghelian communities demanded that the Kaizhungese minority would be deported to Lenapore since flights to and from Kaizhung were banned in September 2020 under a new judicial order.
