Disney Channel is the name given to television channels targeting kids ages 6-12 owned by The Walt Disney Company. Almost the entirety of the feeds are owned by Disney Channels Worldwide, headquartered in the United States, Disney's central operations hub.

It is worth noticing that most Disney Channel feeds in Nara were premium channels until Disney revised its business scheme throughout the 2000s, as the channel dirfted from its prior concept of a family channel - deemed obsolete in many countries - to a general interest kids' channel, targeting female demographics in some regions like Latin Sierra, parts of Eurectipheria and Northulia. Some feeds are explored here in more detail.

Concept[edit | edit source]

Currently, Disney Channel has had a massive downgrade from its former intent - a channel that spread Disney's "magic" through the broadcast of television series and feature films produced by the company, initially as a showcase of its content. Disney Channel in the United States of Sierra had little to no investment in this kind of content during its first decade on air apart from being related in any way to the material it had to show - it relied on anthologies of Disney's back catalog. Some of its productions weren't self-made, and had little to no connection with Disney at all, such as Kids Incorporated in 1991.

In the United States, the channel was premium until the late-90s, by then a significant number of Disney Channel feeds - mostly using own branding rather than depending on the Sierran one - launched, almost all feeds followed the footstep of the Sierran feed by being premium. The target was still a family channel, despite its programming being largely for kids.

Its first sister channel, Toon Disney, launched in the United States first and then spread to other markets worldwide until at least 2005. Toon Disney later became Disney Cinemagic (it eventually shut down in most operations) and this paved way to a change in demographics largely to kids and teens. The production of DCOMs helped in the demographic change. Markets where Disney Channel was the only branded channel still had a mixed schedule.

Disney Channel feeds today have dropped their former pretensions and have become primarily female kids channels, especially in some areas like Latin Sierra, most of Eurectipheria and Bulungi and also Northulia.

Channels are available worldwide on cable and satellite operators. There are over 30 feeds in many languages. As of now, no feeds will shut down.
