The Culture War of Flarland is an ongoing cultural conflict that started in 2019 in Flarland. Aspects of the culture war include opposition to progressive movements (including the destruction of historical statues and monuments), the "rewriting" of history, LGBT politics, politicization of society, rising nationalism (including xenophobia against people from outside of Flarland), identity politics, and other recent events, ,such as murders that triggered global protests (in June 2020, Culture War protests were more prominent in Flarland tnan social justice protests), the pandemic (including the refusal of referring to it by its scientific name, rather "the pandemic") and more recently the Alavio-Ugrainian conflict (in retaliation to the rising number of Ugraine supporters, a campaign was initiated to replace Ugrainian flags with Flarlandian flags on social media).

The Culture War escalated at the onset of the pandemic, after the government signed a law to forbid the usage of "tautological hashtags" and "the usage of the national flag and anthem as a symbol for a global health crisis", claiming that the "gratuitous use" of the national symbols led to "increased division and rage inside and outside of social media platforms", as well as "means to prevent the wave of extremely annoying positivism" permeated worldwide and to prevent "Kaizhungese-style artificial nationalism". Some more extreme members of the Culture War have asked Flarland to leave organizations like the Association Nations, something the world body is against.

The Culture War has been equally praised and criticized at home and abroad, especially driving criticism from multinational companies and conglomerates, as well as blaming the pandemic and especially the People's Republic of Kaizhung, with which Flarland cut formal ties in 2019 (at the onset of the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre) and opposition to movements in the United States of Sierra, telling people to "remain neutral".

Support of the Culture War movement has been increasing after the vaccination drive of 2021, with large-scale protests against the PRK and movements considered by certain members to be "Communist in nature" (the Flarlandian Communist Party was banned during the pandemic for supporting "genocidal governments that don't contain pandemics and have since become denialists by nature").

As of September 2022, no centralized Culture War organization or movement exists.

I'm Leaving[edit | edit source]

I'm Leaving emerged during the first lockdown, that was initiated on March 13, 2020 (what some members of the movement call "the day the dictatorship began in Flarland). Initially support was limited to a small group of people who were against the virus and disseminated conspiracy theories about the pandemic (Flarlandian-centric theories believe that the pandemic was an assault from Kaizhung to end civil freedoms in the world), but after the vaccination drive, the movement became a symbol of increased resistance against the government.

National symbols[edit | edit source]

The weekly playing of the national anthem followed by a minute of clapping has been adopted by several countries around the world in the first few weeks of the pandemic, and in Flarland didn't last more than two weeks. An online petition to stop displaying Flarlandian flags and other symbols to fight the pandemic, started on March 15, 2020, attracted five million signatures within a week.

The petition said that "the national flag and anthem during this complicated phase of time are meant to divide people further".

The Culture War and the University of Wembley (campus and media)[edit | edit source]

Despite the University of Wembley's stance against political correctness, both the campus and its nationwide media outlets have cried fowl over many of the issues of the Culture War in general.
