The Botojan Broadcasting Corporation or BBC is the state media corporation of the Botojan Islands, whose chairman and overall boss since the late 2000s is Tyler Tupa, one of the sons of Damien Tupa. The BBC operates one radio station and one televisoon channel. State media emerged late in the Botojan Islands as until then the sector was dominated exclusively by the private sector. The BBC was formed from the 1979 Radio Act and started broadcasts in the end of 1979 (commercial radio had a monopoly since 1950) and the TV service started in 2010 by buying a TV channel linked to the opposition, One, a channel that started in 1998.

History[edit | edit source]

Branding[edit | edit source]

When the BBC was strictly a radio broadcaster, its logo resembled that of the NBS from Nashland in the 1960s, but with blue boxes.

Upon the start of BBC Television, the boxes were switched to an upright position, still using the light blue shade.

In 2021, the corporation adopted a new logo with rounded boxes, this time colored purple, and the BBC text in yellow.

Operations[edit | edit source]

The BBC operates two radio stations, BBC Radio (founded 1979) is a general radio station. In line with the Botojan government's rise in influence, they bought out a formerly-independent radio station and created AB FM (the AB stands for Alternative Botojan).

On television, there's BBC Television, the former One, and BBC Two (formerly Channel 22 before the channel was forced to stop using the name to avoid conflicts)

BBC is partly financed by Voice of Hopeland. Aside from commercial advertising, the government funds a substantial amount through Tyler Tupa. The Hopelandian support involves the training of journalists and exchange of its television productions as filler programming.
