Wa Media
Wa Media is a Wanian commercial print and media company founded in 2001. It is known for having a centralized operation status and was famous for breaking de facto radio and television monopolies.
History[edit | edit source]
Historical context[edit | edit source]
Radio arrived to Wa in 1949. Television arrived in 1983. Both mediums were controlled by the merman royalists, who made a de facto monopoly over the broadcasting industry in Wa. There were exceptions, however, and these were limited to AM and FM relays of foreign services of international broadcasters: the NBS World Service, Voice of Flarland, Voice of Sierra, Voice of Hopeland and the external service of the South Bulungian Broadcasting Corporation. Commercial, non-royal media emerged in the 1980s under thr deregulation of newspapers, and under the condition that they would be of local circulation and wouldn't publish articles critical of the king.
Printed media: the predecessor of Wa Media[edit | edit source]
When the first local newspapers under non-royal auspices appeared in the mid-80s, they were all published by city councils.
