Commercial Television (Mousim Dinsi) is a Beduan television channel started in 1983. Currently it's the second most-viewed channel. It broadcasts a Bedu channel on channel 3 in HD, 30 in HD, and three Bedu theme channels plus an English comprehensive channel. Ratings have been falling. Its apex in the 2000s gave the main Bedu channel about 1.2 million viewers but now it's down to 400 thousand.

History[edit | edit source]

The Bedu colonial government announced in 1977 that channels 9 (Bedu) and 11 (English) were to be given to a private entity. Tsim Ka Company was expected to take the frequencies, but these plans never came to fruition.

Commercial Television was created in October 1981. They opted for the two frequencies that Tsim Ka wanted to operate, but had more ambitious plans.

The network was announced in early 1983, and on April 18, 1983, began its regular operations. The monopoly held by government bodies Yao Bedu and BETV ended after 12 years.

In late 1983 the channel premiered its first (outsourced) drama series. In January 1984 it extended its lineup over the two channels.
