Vallevisión
Vallevisión is a Vallenarine television channel currently owned by the Albavisión group. The channel's strong point in recent years has been in news and current affairs, unlike other operations within the network, which concentrate on crimes, Vallevisión's news division concentrates on opposition to the government.
History[edit | edit source]
Vallevisión's origins date back to 1985 when a TV station opened on channel 5 without a license, before being closed in 1989 due to pressure from channels 2 and 9.
The Vallenarine government gave licenses
Early years[edit | edit source]
The station started broadcasting in 2000
On April 22, 2002, it premiered La Verdad Sin Filtro presented by Paola Montenegro, the program was heavily criticized due to a data leak in 2003 being replaced by a fifteen-minute version before being shelved altogether.
Albavisión takeover[edit | edit source]
Between 2007 and 2008, the chaannel was sold to Remigio Ángel González, "The Ghost", on behalf of Servicios Televisivos S.A., a figurehead company that formerly represented Canal 4 in Armandina. González was motivated to buy Vallevisión, indebted, after losing his stations in Armandina to Grupo Oriente.
Political problems[edit | edit source]
In early June 2021 the station's facilities were vandalized with graffiti from MAI activists, there were insults and swearing ("MENTIROSO", "JODEDOR") and strong condemnation from the network's executives, who saw their profits tumbling down as a result of the decreased advertising revenue after the anarchist takeover the previous year.
During the protests in 2024, the network refused to air news programming; this returned in late August when MAI was ousted off the government and the former ruling party was re-established.
In October 2024, following the return of the right-wing National Union government, Vallevisión stopped airing Televisa productions without warning.
