Valerian Broadcasting Corporation
The Valerian Broadcasting Corporation (VBC), also known under its alternate name of SVR VRG, is the Valerian public broadcasting association, founded in 1931. The Valerian Broadcasting Corporation is a non-profit organization, funded mainly through radio and television license fees and the rest making income from advertising and sponsorship.
Valeria's system of direct democracy and the fact that it has six official languages (German, French, Italian, English, Portuguese and Romansh) mean that the structure of Valerian public service broadcasting is rather complicated. The actual holders of the broadcasting licenses that enable VBC/SVR VRG to operate are six regional corporations:
- Valerier Radio und Fernsehen (VRF)
- Rádio télévision valeriénne (RTV)
- Radiotelevisione valeriana di lingua italiana (RVI)
- Valerian Broadcasting Corporation (VBC)
- Radiodifusão Nacional da Valéria (RNV)
- Radiotelevisiun Valeria Rumantscha (RVR)
These six corporations maintain SVR VRG as a joint central production and broadcasting association. The seventh business unit of the SVR VRG is the fourteen-language news platform Valeriainfo.
