Television in Figi
Overview of the television stations broadcasting in Figi.
Figi One[edit | edit source]
Figi One is a free-to-air channel run by Figi Television. It provides coverage throughout Figi. It is fully funded from revenue generated through commercial advertisements, meaning that programs have commercial breaks.
Figi One started broadcasting in 1994. Initially, the channel used the "ONE" wordmark from TV One of the New Michillies. The channel is known for its weekend sports broadcasts.
Figi Two[edit | edit source]
The channel launched in recent years on the digital terrestrial platform under a draw initiated by the existing broadcasters. Figi Two's programming is more limited than Figi One's.
FBC TV[edit | edit source]
The state-run FBC started television broadcasts in September 2011. Programming consists of a mixture of local news and music, international television series and programming sourced from the English service of Al-Jazeera.
FBC 2[edit | edit source]
FBC 2 (not to be confused with the Flarlandian channel of the same name started broadcasts in 2016, however its programming is more limited like Figi Two. However, here it relies on simulcasts (live and delayed) of Northulia Television International and Voice of Hopeland Television, as well as limited third-party religious programming, from the Universal Church and the Family Restoration Church. It also relays some Television New Michillies programming as a member of Northulica TV.
FBC Sports[edit | edit source]
Formerly known as FBC Plus, FBC Sports is Figi's only fully-local sports channel.
Mai TV[edit | edit source]
A smaller television station run mainly by ethnic South Sondrians. Until 2012 it held the rights to the TVNM News and related programming, Al-Jazeera relays and Voice of Hopeland Television until it started losing the contract to FBC TV. In November 2018 it was acquired by Merwinian television channel TV Lai but eventually a lockdown at the company meant that TV Lai had to keep 50% of the shares.
