TVGS News
TVGS News (known as TVGS News 24 until the 2016 rebrand) is a news channel operated by Television Great Scorria. It is the only news channel available nationwide on Freeview and competes against Stratos Television in Kimberly and international news channels on pay-TV platforms.
TVGS News rebroadcasts 1 News and Tarambono. Newscasts outside of these relay slots are simply known as TVGS News.
History[edit | edit source]
TVGS was likely interested in the start of a news channel as early as 1992, when it bid for a network of UHF television stations carrying encrypted programming, one of the channels being a news channel. In October 1992, with the launch of TV3, TVGS gave up on the project, and the requested frequencies were handed over to Showtime.
The 2004 restructuring of TVGS enabled the creation of a digital-ready corporation, one of the plans involved was the creation of a news channel, exclusive to digital terrestrial television and subscription platforms.
