Soupstock is a Flarlandian television series created by Ajakoo Johnson-Roberts and his production company Intense Entertainment. The show premiered on November 19, 2004 and ended on June 27, 2006 with a total of three seasons and 39 episodes, leaving a total of 34 episodes aired in its first run, and five episodes initially unaired in Flarland, being first seen on a repeat on Voice of Flarland's channels in 2007 and subsequently repeated in Flarland on Channel 14 later (see Production below).

Premise[edit | edit source]

The series was set in an international detective agency. The agency is led by Malcolm (named in honor of Malcolm X) who is a black detective. His life is constantly annoyed by an unspecified creature, the titular Soupstock, who constantly changes his moods.

The detectives travel around the world and analyze the central premise of the episode.

Production[edit | edit source]

Ajakoo's purpose for the series was that it would compete against Team KRA, despite airing on another day of the week, and by having a similar concept. The idea for the series came before Team KRA was produced. Ajakoo was aware that Team KRA was in production, but that he wouldn't rup the concept off.

The cartoon was to be animated in Flash, as per Ajakoo's intentions. He had been making Flash cartoons since at least 2000, uploading them mostly on sites like Newgrounds or Requiem of Whirlplash. With this being a television series, Ajakoo required a team of "at least six" Flash animators.

Pakifan debacle[edit | edit source]

An episode set in the Pakifas was scheduled to air on December 31, 2004. Channel 14 tried to pull the episode from circulation in the outcome of the tsunami that affected the Pakifas, particularly the western region. The plot of the episode was similar: the detective agency was investigating a fraud in the Pakifas yet a tsunami affects the capital (in real life, the capital suffered from less damage than the west). Ajakoo said that the episode needed to air in the scheduled date and begged Channel 14 to include Pakifan Aid adverts during the episode.

Eventually the episode did air, with a disclaimer preceding its opening sequence.
