Sarian Broadcasting Service
The Sarian Broadcasting Service is the Sarian public broadcaster. Based on the NBS, it is one of the oldest broadcasters in the world, and one of the most respected, even to this day.
SBS is one of the founding members of the Eurectipherian Broadcasting Union.
History[edit | edit source]
SBS was set up as the National Radio Service in 1922 and quickly became a broadcasting powerhouse. John Logie Baird invested in the television serviced and famously launched the National Television Service in 1934. During the war, SBS continued broadcasting as Saria wasn't a threat to the Nazis, but the NRS downsized its services.
After a change to the Royal Charter in 1951, the two services merged under the new umbrella name Sarian Broadcasting Service. SBS still had a television monopoly until August 31, 1957, when Sarian Television signed on. They still had a radio monopoly for longer.
