Sandu Ciorba (nickname deribed from his real name Alexandru Ciorba) is a Radaurobian gypsy musician from the Transylvanian region, known for his gypsy folk tunes. Not really known in his native Radaurobia outide of the gypsy scene, he managed to become extremely popular - largely through word of mouth - in Iteria, Swilatia, Chemheria and Flarland.

Body of work[edit | edit source]

Most of his songs are released as part of compilations of Romani music from his label, Viper Production. His body of work is basically the same as IRL.

In Nara, his most popular music video is Pe Cimpoi (something the real world achieved recently), as of May 2021, the video has over eighty million views, most of them collected from either Swilatia, Chemheria or Flarland. His second most popular music video, Dalibomba, has around 45 million views, mostly from Swilatia.

Pe Cimpoi is popular due to its style. Based upon reviews made by Flarlandians, the song, labelled as a "siren song" due to its first few seconds, is considered to be "genius".

By country[edit | edit source]

Radaurobia[edit | edit source]

Sandu Ciorba's native country. He is largely unheard of outside of gypsy circles due to the fact that many Radaurobians don't like his style of music. Comments in Romanian are sparse and mainly ask things like "Not a Radaurobian in the comments?", often retrieving answers along the lines of "trash", as intellectuals don't prefer this kind of music.

Nonetheless, Romanian is the native language of all of his songs.

Swilatia[edit | edit source]

The power of Sandu Ciorba's music has made him immensely popular in Swilatia, where most of the views of Dalibomba come from, one YouTube comment said in 2013 that it was "like crap, but I'm hearing it for the fifth time". Likewise, the phrase "ce gagica bomba" became the mondegreen "dzika dzika bomba".

A Swilatian folk music website made an April Fool's Day prank in 2014 by claiming that they would launch a website dedicated to Radaurobian music based on Sandu Ciorba's success.

Iteria[edit | edit source]

During the 2018 Eurectivision Song Contest, Iterian netizens jokingly demand Sandu Ciorba's participation.

Tarania[edit | edit source]

Sandu Ciorba is an internet figure in Tarania.

Chemheria[edit | edit source]

Although it has a fraction of Swilatia's population, Sandu Ciorba's popularity has been soaring since 2013. References to his work appear in the local scene and in local television series. His success has lent the name of his most popular song in the country - Pe Cimpoi - to the local cryptocurrency qimpoy.

Even children have been subjected to Pe Cimpoi in PE activities in schools.

Influence of Sandu Ciorba in Chemheria reportedly dwindled due to police interventions making the qimpoy illegal.

Flarland[edit | edit source]

In June 2014, Sandu Ciorba became an internet celebrity in Flarland, when Khyber Waterman watched the music video to Pe Cimpoi and couldn't stop listening to the song. Eventually, this led to the creation of a Sandu Ciorba fan club and emulations of his music videos.

Khyber: The Animated Series features an avatar of Sandu Ciorba, Sandu Waterman.

Hopeland[edit | edit source]

A Hopelandian Sandu Ciorba fanbase started to develop in June 2014 when a local YouTuber, influenced by Khyber Waterman's discovery of Pe Cimpoi, showed his personal "addiction" to the music video. Numerous remakes of Pe Cimpoi, often starring women lip-syncing the song, have been posted online by other local YouTubers and even became a part of local culture.

Elsewhere[edit | edit source]

Outside of these countries, interest in Sandu Ciorba is low. High interest in this collective region can be found in Vera Cruz, the Michillies, Hopeland and Catalonia.
