Radio y Televisión de Vallenar
Radio y Televisión de Vallenar (abbreviated RTV) is the state-owned broadcaster of the Republic of Vallenar. RTV operates only one radio station (formerly it also operated the international service Voz de Vallenar) and one television channel, both branded as RTV. Its operations have been banned in Armandina since 2022 on the grounds of delivering "progressive, anti-Armandine radical propaganda" by ATT, as well as its relays of TeleSUR and AT's Spanish service.
Structure[edit | edit source]
Since the takeover by members of or with connections to the They Shall Not Pass movement, which is communist in its orientation, RTV is managed "like a collective", according to internal reports from the Armandine government and the ATT report that banned its relays in Armandina in 2022. In July 2020, RTV, facing budgetary and management problems in the pandemic and the disruption of political power, was stripped of some of its executive powers and the roles of directors of the units are freeform, with no central director.
History[edit | edit source]
The station suspended its operations on the afternoon of August 18, 2024.
The following day, at 2:35pm, broadcasts resumed without the participation of Marxist staff which was fired and the channel is airing a transitional schedule. The plan is to become "its former self" (pre-2020) by October 1.
