Radio and Television of Yaniko (Yanikan: Радио ўо Телевизиони Янико, Radio wo Televizioni Yaniko) is the state-owned broadcaster of the republic of Yaniko.

History[edit | edit source]

Radio arrived to Yaniko in 1935. At the time a satellite of the USSR, decisions came from Alavia at first.

Television arrived in October of 1961. Initially the television service was known as Central Television of Yaniko (Жуңба Телевизиона Янико, Jungba Televiziona Yaniko).

Panorama (Панорама), the iconic news program, first debuted in 1969.

At the height of the 80s economical crisis, CTY only ran from 18:45 to 20:15, news only ran for fifteen minutes.

The name Radio and Television of Yaniko was adopted in 1990.

Following the proclamation of a sham state of emergency that reactivated the former national-socialist government, radio and television broadcasts had their times cut to 80s standards. Foreign programming is limited yet is heavily controlled by the ruling regime.
