Radio Television Pedariwi (or RTP) is the designated broadcaster for the Pedariwi people of the south Pakifas. RTP began in 1979 on radio and 1993 on television.

History[edit | edit source]

Up until the founding of Radio Pedariwi, the Language Mixing Act forbade many programming in non-Pakifan languages in an attempt to prevent code mixing.

A loophole was granted to Ilo Amarin Petalihi, who in October 1979 broadcast Radio Pedariwi by using a license, granting it to broadcast four hours a day in English and two in Pedariwi. Since mroe than half of Radio Pedariwi's programming was in English, the station was able to continue operating.

Following liberalizations to the sector between 1989 and 1992, Radio Pedariwi started broadcasting a regular service comparable to Voice of Pakifas.
