Radio e Televisão Timorense (Radio and Television of Timor in English) is the national radio and television broadcaster in Timor.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1954, what was then known as Emissora Nacional founded a de facto overseas branch in Timor, known as Rádio Timor. Once the country achieved independence in 1975, the company was nationalized.
Introducing television was a huge challenge. Television was viewed by many as "impossible" and would "interfere the national norms of culture". It wasn't until 1995 that a regular television service was introduced, with help from the Northulian National Broadcaster, RTR-NTR and Television New Michillies.
Operations[edit | edit source]
