Protective Retaliation is a North Arlesburian-South Arlesburian animated series created by Stuart Bryce as a joint co-production between Axiom NA, Think Pictures, the North Arlesburian Broadcasting Corporation and the South Arlesburian Broadcasting Corporation. The series is set in an alternate reality where Pro Tect became a world leader and effectively plunged most of the Eurectipherian continent into chaos, creating a new society worser than that of Nazi Hartung.

The series had five irregular seasons, the last episode of the fifth season acts as a de facto series finale, as, despite the plot of the series promoting "the fight against Pro Tect", nothing was solved. The last four episodes of the series were eventually released on Netflix on October 12, 2018.

Plot[edit | edit source]

In 1982, tensions between the Arlesburies grew to unimaginable heights. South Arlesbury won the civil war and proceeded to take over "the free world", though Pro Tect's intent was to take over the entire world.

The pilot episode starts off with the death of Anthony Emmanuel, whose ailing faith took Richard Perston-Oates to speed up his plans to become a world dictator. Then came the Crystal Night and the subsequent civil war, the point of divergence

The ailing North Arlesburian president dies from the chaos that erupted in the situation. Pro Tect proceeded to ban a lot of things, including singing, dancing, food and happiness, based on a vision the president had since the start of the civil war. The Arlesburies and all parts of the world that Pro Tect claimed were now known as the Pro Tect Empire. An estimated 200 million people died across much of the continent thanks to the famine created by the dictatorship.

Thirty years later, a group of survivors who grew up with the monotonous regime installed in 1982 had found out of the world before the horrific massacre and had found out that the former people have fled to other continents.

The message the series tries to convey is that the differences between North Arlesbury and South Arlesbury must be eradicated.

Characters[edit | edit source]

  • James Theodore was born in 1974. He was eight at the time of the takeover and was forbidden to travel to the Foreign Lands for thirty years. Upon landing in the Caines, he finds a cell of "ideological inmates".
  • Pro Tect is still alive in the 2010s of the series. He dominates a huge part of Eurectipheria, and has invaded Soviet territories, as well as much of North Sierra.
