Panorama (Панорама) is a television news program produced by Radio and Television of Yaniko. It is the country's most-watched news program, as it's transmitted by RTY 1, RTY 3 and the main channels of the provincial television services. Internationally it's carried by RTY World with subsequent repeats of the program with English subtitles.

History[edit | edit source]

Panorama was first transmitted on June 21, 1969. Until then, RTY had to rely on Soviet Central Television for most of its news output. Most programs came from the Alavian SSR and were broadcast in Russian, by 1965 there were already experimental news summaries in Yanikan.

Vremya was often transmitted live at the end of transmission, since all union television channels had to relay it, often live.

The first broadcast of Panorama ran for half an hour and the first report transmitted was that of a speech of Jemshe Äbi-Basha. Prior to the 1989 coup d'état, Panorama was mainly a diary of political events related to the leader. After that, and with the appearance of the nationwide commercial channel KBS, Panorama started to cover more "real" news.

Program[edit | edit source]

Currently, Panorama runs for 60 minutes. Until 19:35, national news are broadcast. Between 19:35 and 19:45, the foreign segment is broadcast. The sports segment is shown between 19:45 and 19:55. The last five minutes of the program are occupied by the weather forecast for Yaniko and abroad.

The program must be transmitted on RTY 1 and provincial channels at the same time.
