North Arlesbury
North Arlesbury is a country in Eurectipheria.
History[edit | edit source]
In ancient times, the modern territory of Arlesburia (North and South Arlesbury) was occupied by Celtic tribes. They fell victims to the Siennan Empire who began to Siennize most of the territories, establishing two provinces: Arlesburia Superiore (equivalent to modern-day North Arlesbury) and Arlesburia Inferiore (equivalent to modern-day South Arlesbury). The two provinces were later annexed by the Umayyad Caliphate, who had successfully "colonized" southern Eurectipheria (minus the Conuscule in Solenial) and bought Islam to the region. A resistance group in the northern regions of modern-day Real and Castille began the so-called Reconquista period (known as Reconquering in English) to forcibly bring Christianity.
The area of Arlesburia was reconquered by surviving Michillian celts in 1143, who oficially declared the creation of the state of New Arlesburia, occupying the territory of the two historic provinces.

Democracy and Pro Tect[edit | edit source]
Relations with South Arlesbury began to deteriorate as soon as Pro Tect became South Arlesbury's "president for life". Four days later, the country's prime-minister, one of the presidential candidates for the coming year of 1981, was assassinated by one of Pro Tect's missiles, effectively shutting the age of economical progress that had just started in North Arlesbury. Poverty returned somewhat, as the two countries were now at a standstill with each other, in a similar situation to Daehan and Joseon. In 1981, North Arlesbury received another package of economical aid from the IMF, under the condition that the far south wouldn't receive such packages due to the tension around the border.
It was strongly believed at the time that the country was set to be "destroyed" by the Pro Tect regime and his expansionist plans that never went beyond South Arlesburian territories. The North decided to "assassinate" some of Pro Tect's "henchmen" over time.
Eurectipherian Union, death of Pro Tect and new stabilization[edit | edit source]
North Arlesbury entered the Eurectipherian Union on January 1, 1986, much to the annoyance of South Arlesbury (who only entered in 1995, a little over five years after Pro Tect's assassination).
North Arlesbury returned to its former, pre-1980 state on December 4, 1989, when the North Arlesburian Forces successfully killed Pro Tect, in an "act of vengeance" towards the assassination of the prime minister exactly nine years before.
North Arlesbury was particularly hit by the 2008 financial crisis, receiving another IMF package in 2011, and again due to the pandemic in 2020.
Government and politics[edit | edit source]
North Arlesbury is a semi-presidential representative democratic republic according to the 1976 Constitution. The Constitution grants the division or separation of powers amongst four bodies reffered as "organs of Sovereignty": the President of the Republic, the Government, the Assembly of the Republic and the Courts.
Geography[edit | edit source]
The country is divided into eighteen districts and two autonomous regions.
