Michillies
The Michillies, oficially the Republic of the Michillies is a sovereign country in Eurectipheria.
The Michillies experienced a rapid economic growth between 1991 and 1999. Today it is a newly industrialized country and a large exporter.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
It is believed that the name Michillies comes from the merger of two kingdoms, Michgelein and Illimandu, two native kingdoms that had existed long before the set-up of the present state.
History[edit | edit source]
Ancient times[edit | edit source]
The country was inhabited by proto-Celtic tribes. These tribes lived in small city-states in southern Eurectipheria. Over time one of the first notable kingdoms, Arridana, was created. Its influence grew around the time of the birth of Jesus Christ in Asrael.

Pro-life Catholic theocracy[edit | edit source]
Finally in February 1944, the Catholics won and imposed a theocratical Catholic state built upon their worldview. Non-secular activities were banned on Sundays. This move was considered to be chaotic among many western regimes in the coming years.
Unable to match their capabilities with the mother nation, most of the dominions requested their independence, with the largest such example being in the New Michillies, who has for a long time been an ally of the "old" Michillies.
1984 coup d'état[edit | edit source]

On February 9, 1984, several groups of rebels wreak havoc in several Michillian cities. They were all against the Catholic government and wanted a state of debauchery. At 9:10pm local time, the terrorist group Freedom Fighters destroyed several parts of several cities and killed an estimated 80,000 people nationwide. The government started a state of emergency that ended the following afternoon. The bombing severely damaged some of the Michillian industry. Allerton was mainly damaged, Gisborne partially.
The Catholic government was overthrown in May and the Michillies have become a progressive laicist state ever since, effectively separating church from state for the first time since 1926. During summer, the Michillian government started the "Hope Michillies" program to restore the former livelihood of the two cities.
90s capitalist rush and Sierranization[edit | edit source]
As the 80s were nearing its end and following its entrance in the Eurectipherian Union, the Michillian government had liberalized all industries that up until 1984 were under government control. Starting in 1991, the government entered a capitalist rush and started a process of Sierranization, forcing many Sierran companies to enter the Michillian market and letting the Michillies adopt the Sierran know-how.
Despite some successes, the system turned out to be a failure
Present day[edit | edit source]
Government and politics[edit | edit source]
The Michillies are one of the few bicameral countries in the Eurectipherian Union. The country's upper and lower houses are known as the Chamber and the Senate respectively.
