Mechazena
Mechazena, oficially the Mechazenan Republic (Mechazenan: Chenechene e Mechazena) is a small Bulungian country on the northern Hindic coast of Bulungi.
History[edit | edit source]
During the 5th Century, Hañnai Mechazen was born to parents of a Dannakian family. By the end of the century he became the king of his newfound wealth and proclaimed it a sovereign kingdom, the kingdom of Mechazena.
Yenrikti Empire[edit | edit source]
1241 led to the creation of the Yenrikti Empire.
Iterian colonization[edit | edit source]
Mechazena's coast was occupied by the Iterians in the 19th century.
Successive takeovers[edit | edit source]
Independence[edit | edit source]
New Mechazena[edit | edit source]
Hessai Ikauke was declared president of Mechazena in 1977 and he drafted a new constitution known as "New Mechazena". Initially he assimilated most of the opposition policies of 1968, but over time Mechazena became a semi-despotic state.
1989 to 2017[edit | edit source]
The 1977 constitution was redrafted in 1989, with the goal of becoming a 100+ nation (as in "following the goal of having over 100 thousand people within its borders") by the year 2000.
International scandal[edit | edit source]
An independent inquiry by North Arlesburian journalists say that Mechazena has been importing children from other countries ilegally with the help of the Bensonian Family Restoration Church, which has about five thousand followers in the country, or more than one tenth of the national population. The scandal reached the AoN within a short amount of time and international organizations set up the Mechazen Aid program.
Government and politics[edit | edit source]
Demographics[edit | edit source]
Currently Mechazena is the least-populated sovereign country in Bulungi, despite its size, believed to have 48.120 inhabitants as of a census conducted in 2015; the last census held was before the arrival of New Mechazena, which estimated the population to be of over 60.000.
Culture[edit | edit source]
Media[edit | edit source]
There are two government-run newspapers, Adhaya Mechazen and Mechazen Sport. The government also controls three radio stations and two television channels. They are all controlled by the Mechazenian National Mass Communications Corporation. Internet is not controlled in spite of anti-government hate. A small blogging platform was shut down upon the Mechazenan scandal in 2018.
