Ketogene fanfics
Here are examples of Ketogene fanfics mostly made in Hopeland.
A Call Away From Home[edit | edit source]
A Call Away From Home, also known as ACAFH or simply CAFH, tells the story of another person who has links to the undersea kingdom of Ketogene.
Darwin Tiroki, a Hakki child, was hit by the Ray of Immortality on the same day as Cody and realizes that has a merman friend on the other side of the board - in Ketogene.
Rebuild[edit | edit source]
As a society threatens to rebuild itself, so does Cody Farley.
What would have happened to Ketogene if the links to the kingdom were unfairly blocked by means of a technocracy in the surface world?
Keto of Shuiana[edit | edit source]
Main article: Keto of Shuiana
- Wayne Farley: It's as if millions of voices all screamed out at once and were suddenly silenced.
- Donovan McCain: Do you fear that something terrible has happened?
- Wayne Farley: Yes, but at least we landed in safety. But the death toll is at the billions.
The story was first written in September 2011 and has sci-fi influences. All of Nara's merpeople in October 2012 mysteriously teleport themselves to another planet (Shuiana) and Nara was to be destroyed on December 21, 2012, Cody and his family were then sent to the planet on the eve of the destruction, as a consortium of Hopelandian scientists (including Cody's father Wayne Farley) who studied the habitable planet of Shuiana find out that the merpeople need help from Nara. In the weeks leading up to it, the civilized world begins to collapse as many people weren't able to travel on one of the nine shuttles to Shuiana. Subsequently on December 21, 2012, at 13:17:34 ITC, as predicted, the explosives detonate. Nara and the moon explode, creating two space fireballs (in an event that left scientists perplexed) that later dissipate and in its place an asteroid field (commonly nicknamed The Graveyard) is created. Cody reencounters Keto in a town designated by the survivors of the Hopelandian government as New Hopeland and the fact that it looked like Albany to him made him happy, and that the undersea kingdom of Ketogene was nearby. But many people are dissatisfied with their life. Only a few people are unaware of a time machine that han help repair the damage and restore Nara to what it was - for that, Cody has to fight the evil mastermind, Governor Tarkin (named after the Star Wars character of the same name) and turn back time and prevent him from planting the explosives.
The bulk of the fanfic is set in Shuiana, a planet that received seven large vessels coming out of Hopeland, containing 92.308 human escapees (or survivors) combined and some animals. The landmass is known to house two countries, New Hopeland and New Sierra. The well-written fanfic also comes with a wiki from the author featuring the many ways society had to cope in the case of disaster (including Naran encyclopedias, content from websites, Wikipedia, video games, movies, television shows), mostly led by people who eventually moved to Shuiana, celebrities that entered the vessels and survived, and also include the political events of the pre-2012 part of canon (the human alien Tarkin, how he entered the United States and how he planted the explosives), the discovery of life in other planets in decades before the 2012 disaster, and how the supposed doomsday in real life affected the creation of his fanfic. Shuiana is a world whose population consists of merpeople and meranimals, whereas on land, population consisted largely of random animals, few humans and a number of centaurs (horse and mostly bear) and satyrs, as well as merman hybrids. Shuiana also has the same resources as Nara, but they are mostly used by humans. One of the characters is a bear centaur version of Cody Farley.
The fanfic is also peppered with numerous references to pop culture, including the buildup being reminiscent to the hype of the supposed 2012 apocalypse (that set the pace for the start of the story), as well as a limited number of Star Wars references. Some fanfics of the fanfic involving properties from other shows have also been created.
Ketogene (1983: Doomsday)[edit | edit source]
A popular alternate history scenario where Hopeland was lucky enough to have no bombs over its territory, its version of Ketogene was admitted to the AH canon in 2013. The story is similar to the Keto of Shuiana storyline from above, except that it starts with Wayne and Shania Farley becoming friends in 1981 and accepting the test journey to Shuiana in 1982. Things take a turn for the worse in 1983, as the nature of the nuclear war forces the Farleys and other humans to deny a return to Nara due to radiation. Eventually Nara is discovered to be habitable in 2008, but was destroyed in 2012 for the reasons above.
In the interim of those events, the Farleys got their four children with Cody being the "heaven sent" by the Ketogenians.
While it isn't an fanfic in its own right, it was suggested by a member of the Alternate History Wiki in September 2013 and was quickly accepted. It was made by a Hopelandian animation house who in the canon claimed to be "the new Disney" and in our timeline corresponds to cartoons made in the late 1980s. The premiere date of the series was still in 2011, on NBN, and was successfully exported to Flarland, Great Scorria and the NNMC (Northulia and New Michillies Commonwealth).
Wreck-it Cody and Wreck-it Keto[edit | edit source]
Two storylines that are intimately connected, putting the Ketogene lore inside of Wreck-it Ralph's. Tapper's was replaced by the M&K fast food restaurant. Wreck-it Cody concentrated on a tropical island video game and Wreck-it Keto concentrated on an undersea exploration video game.
I'm On A Roll[edit | edit source]
Cody and Cory in Cartoon World[edit | edit source]
Series of non-episodical fanfics where AJ's imagination goes haywire and Cody (often with Keto or Kahoot) travel to the settings of other animated series. The first one and also the most-read was the SpongeBob crossover, where the locals (main SpongeBob characters) complain about the appearance of "weird merpeople" and are directed towards the show's King Neptune. Other "episodes" include visits to the settings of Phineas and Ferb, Imagination Alley, Garfield and Friends and so on.
