Under new laws, Karazhunia would reinstate its federate phase under a new political system, and the two-party phase initiated in 1991 was terminated, leading to the creation of new political parties.
In April 2001, Karazhunia made its first free election, the first free presidential elections in its history.

Government and politics[edit | edit source]
Karazhunia is a parliamentary republic, with the government divided into legislative, executive and judiciary branches. The autonomous regions of Vertia and Mordinia have their own governments and fall under the same branches.
The President of the Republic (Prezident e Republikës) is elected every four years by the people and is limited by constitution for two consecutive terms. However, most Karazhunian presidents have had one term, as opposed to many countries in Eurectipheria.
