K-Zone Direct Connection (often abbreviated KZDC) was a Flarlandian television program that ran from September 1998 to September 2007. The show ran on weekday afternoons and sometimes on weekend mornings. During the earlier part of its run, it competed against Toony Franza, but in later years, having lost its competition (and its counterpart on the FBC having been downgraded), it adopted its own personality.

K-Zone Direct Connection primarily ran from 15:45 to 18:00 and was simulcast by both K-Zone (the show premiered with the linear channel) and Channel 14 throughout its entire run and featured cartoons, live-action series and studio segments featuring competitions and sometimes live music. The show was produced by two companies, Dream Factory until 2002 and Couch Slave Entertainment until its cancellation.

The show last aired in October 2009.

History[edit | edit source]

The show premiered in September 1998 at 16:00. Initially it was shown on weekday afternoons only. The block only had two slots for cartoons - at the time, K-Zone wasn't well known for its programming. The studio segments quickly attracted an unexpected number of adult viewers tuning in, achieving cult status.

The two presenters during the initial phase of the show were Robin Allison and Michela Sacks. Both were age 25 at the time of premiere and graduated from the University of Wembley. There were no kids in the studio audience, as Dream Factory was tight on its budget, compared to Spectrum - by then on Channel 14 - which was far more popular.
