Junior Sondriavision Song Contest
The Junior Sondriavision Song Contest, frequently shortened to Junior Sondriavision is an annual song contest aimed at kids ages 9-14 held by the Sondria-Northulic Broadcasting Union and based on the Junior Eurectivision Song Contest. The contest is held in July, standing in a near-equidistant point between two editions of the Sondriavision Song Contest.
Unlike the SSC and like its Eurectipherian counterpart, the contest is not well-known, has a much more limited amount of countries competing for it and is centered more on ASESON countries, who all seem to have more interest in it. Ratings are also lower, about one fifth of the viewership of the SSC watches the JSSC. Also the winning country doesn't host the following year's contest as it falls under criteria issued by the SBU.
History[edit | edit source]
In 2005, the LPBS, one of the two SBU members and also EBU associate members in Lenapore, broadcast the 2005 edition of the Junior Eurectivision Song Contest on delay on its main channel and without commentary. This happened in a time when even the regular Sondriavision Song Contest was still being studied. In 2011, following the success of the first SSC, LPBS 1 aired a special, non-competitive content in which six Lenaporean children - singing a song in each national language - demanded a local equivalent of the JESC, of which they only broadcast the 2005 and 2010 editions, the latter of which was to gain some ground in time for the first competitive SSC.
