Jayavahini (জাযাভাঅহিনী) is a Kastrian television channel owned by Jayavahini group. Started satellite telecast on April 1, 1996 and currently broadcasts news and entertainment programming. The channel's top-rated programs include the news (Proshonti; প্রশন্তি) and local serials. In the past, it showed a much more varied schedule, but due to the launch of an entertainment channel, the focus on news grew.

History[edit | edit source]

Jayavahini started satellite telecast from Hindustan in 1996. At the time, Raas Television had just given "landing rights" to operate in Kastria and was deprived from having a terrestrial license like the three competing channels (KCNH 1, KCNH 2, Raas). This was proven to be impractical for Jayavahini to operate, as the number of Kastrian speakers in Hindustan at the time was of 500.000.
