Housemates is a Flarlandian animated series created by Colin Armitage and Ajakoo Johnson-Roberts. The series is a "pseudo-continuation" of Colin's webtoon of the same name, cancelled in the previous year, acting as a revision. The series airs on Channel 14 and has been renewed for a second season.

The series is produced by Intense Entertainment, Ajakoo's production company, as means to battle the Couch Slave domination. The series has become successful that it has been sold to about forty countries worldwide, aside from showings on F Vibe from Flarland TV. The series has been renewed for two more seasons.

Premise[edit | edit source]

Cody and AJ used to share the same apartment. Now they live in a luxurious house.

The series often references the webtoon of the same name and many of the characters are aesthetically stuck in 2003 while living a modern-day life.

Season 4 depicts the entire building complex being duplicated and sent to another dimension to avoid an invasion from the so-called "Republic of People", as a stand-in to Flarland's reaction to the pandemic and in turn the People's Republic of Kaizhung, as well as other events that happened in the year.

Characters[edit | edit source]

Merpeople (seven main characters)[edit | edit source]

  • Cody: In season 2, he becomes a call center attendant.
  • AJ: AJ is a black merman. In season 2 he acts slightly more like a family father rather than having interests over Cody. He apparently works with the real Ajakoo Johnson-Roberts as his fictional "father".
  • Priscilla Marie:
  • Serwaah: Serwaah is AJ's sister.
  • Milo: Milo is AJ's brother.
  • Cory: Cory is Cody's brother.
  • Whyber Katerman (voiced by Khyber Waterman): Whyber is a rip-off of Khyber. He is annoyed due to the fact that he can't be in the house.

Minor characters (humans and merpeople)[edit | edit source]

  • Herks (voiced by Michael Dumfries): a solitary merman in season one where he used to live in a peripheral area of Wembley. He then moved nearby in the second season whem he found the love of his life. The name is an anagram of Shrek, a famous fictional ogre character from the film series of the same name, with the anagram, Sarian accent and solitary attitudes being homages to him.
  • Wayne (voiced by Ajakoo Johnson-Roberts): Wayne is a Wakelandian immigrant who secretly lives in the same apartment as AJ. His desire is to become a merman.
  • Perky: Cory's pet merhamster.
  • Merky: Milo's pet "merhamster-bear" (as a merbear with hamster appearance), who he got at the start of season 3 as a "solid deal from Hopeland".
