History of FBC television idents
The history of FBC television idents begins in 1950, when the FBC first displayed a logo between programs to identify its service. As new technology has become available, these devices have evolved from simple still black and white images to the sophisticated full color short films seen today. With the arrival of digital services in the Flarland, and with them many more new channels, branding is perceived by broadcasters to be much more important, meaning that idents need to stand out from the competition.
This article describes the development of the FBC's main television channels' identities.

Black and white era[edit | edit source]
Initially the FBC used a variety of static contraptions, including the coat of arms of the FBC (deprecated in 1955) and a series of test patterns used in the lead-up to the start of the daily schedule. Slides often depicted the words FBC TELEVISION SERVICE printed on them.
