Great Scorria Indigenous Television is a Great Scorrian television network aimed at ethnic Northulesians.

History[edit | edit source]

Before its founding, television channels in Great Scorria had little to no dedication to the native languages. This situation was alleviated when TVGS began screening Naenian-language programming in the 1980s, the most notable effort being the premiere of Tarambono in 1985.

A task force was set up in 1991 to create Great Scorria's fourth nationwide television channel using resources from illegal television channels aimed at Northulesians that were set up in the years before.

GSITV finally went on air in 2002, most of its terrestrial transmitters were located in the center-west states. 80% of the programming was catered towards Naenians. Smaller ethnic groups like the Kawurans got less screen time. The main news was shown at 7:30pm in Naenian due to legislation.

The channel is scheduled to integrate the reformed GSBC in 2023.

Programming[edit | edit source]

  • GSITV News
  • Amanarae (Naenian news)
  • Qorero Nai (soap opera teaching Naenian language, also shown in the past on TVGS 2)

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Kimberly and Naenian centricism[edit | edit source]

Similar to the nationwide broadcasters and their increasing centralism towards the capital city, something GSITV also apparently professes in more recent times, there has also been accusations of limiting the native languages to just Naenian, a language with official status, while giving no air time to the other languages.

Lack of Mbaraike programming[edit | edit source]
