Freeview (Michillies)
Freeview was set up in the Michillies in 2005. Although Eos runs the network, it is operated by a subsidiary of the Michillian Broadcasting Corporation and the five main broadcasters have direct control over part of it.
History[edit | edit source]
Talks of digital terrestrial television in the Michillies started around the year 1999, when Eos was attempting to introduce an ONdigital-esque service. It was suggested that there was going to be a free multiplex (MBC One, TV Two, ITN, TVA, MBC Two and Prime) and "10 to 12 pay services", probably on three multiplexes total. The network was supposed to launch in 2000, but its launch was later delayed to 2001 and later abandoned altogether.
By 2003, the failure of platforms like IBC Digital and ITN Digital had led to the Michillian government initiating a plan for an entirely-free digital terrestrial service, as opposed to a mixed service.
