Eumorimedia
Eumorimedia is the public broadcaster of Eumoritown, sustained by the local government. The corporation was created in 2012 replacing the former, outdated Eumoritonian Broadcasting Corporation. It operates three television channels and two radio stations.
History[edit | edit source]
Eumorimedia came into creation in 2011, although it was first proposed in 2009. A local media evaluation process was underway and the island's government-funded "public broadcaster" was at an all-time low, refusing to show its public service skills that it had established for fifteen years on television and over fifty years on radio.
The Public Services Act came into effect on January 11, 2011. The proposals included the launch of a second channel concerning island affairs (with the first channel being a replica of what EBC Television used to be), expansion of the nightly news program from fifteen minutes to thirty minutes and a renaming of the radio services.
Eumorimedia started all operations at 6am on September 24, 2012. It went on to have a good first impression, a far cry from the former EBC.
Management and funding[edit | edit source]
Eumorimedia is sustained by the Eumoritonian Broadcasting Funding Agency and the Media Tax. The EMFA functions more or less like the Film in Flarland Association (FFA) and sustains funding for television programs and also some films. It is also funded by commercial advertising, though only on Eumorimedia One, given the fact that Eumorimedia Two is used by the corporation for their public service remit.
