Eosis a brand name given to the domestic telecommunications services from Eos Telecommunications (the former Michillies Telecom). The service debuted in 1996 and later became famous for buying the ill-fated Galaxy.

Currently Eos delivers quadruple-play services nationwide, as it became responsible for all operations since 2014, when the Sumo brand for mobile communications was phased out in favor of a combined Eos brand. Eos delivers its television operation by satellite and, since 2007, IPTV.

History[edit | edit source]

Eos launched in 1996 as one of Eurectipheria's first digital television operators, broadcasting on digital satellite from the Michillies Telecom Eos 1 satellite. Its main competitor was Galaxy, an analog service launched in the previous year by Michillis, a subsidiary of Northulian company Northulis, and in the general market, Telecarte Eurectiphérienne (later simply Carte) and Northgate Communications (later rebranded UPC and sold to Vodafone). Eos held an advantage at launch by operating on entirely digital technology, a factor Galaxy was lacking. Galaxy was losing subscribers to Eos due to its technology and quality. Eventually Galaxy went bankrupt and Eos was responsible for its entire subscriber base, and its headquarters (minus Prime Television) were used by Eos as an annex.

By 1997, Eos had absorbed the entire Galaxy subscriber base, when the analog service provided by the former shut down. Eos eventually became the leading subscription television platform in the Michillies.
