DBS 1 is the premier channel of the Daehan Broadcasting System, previously known as KBS Television/KBS Channel 9 until the launch of KBS2 in 1980, is the oldest TV channel in Daehan and was the successor to HLKZ-TV (or Daehan Bangsong), Korea's first TV channel. It is also the only commercial-free free-to-air television channel in the country.

The channel is well known for its news programs, culture, as well as sports, entertainment and some children's programs and a minimal amount of education programming.

DBS 1 is the oldest television channel in Daehan. Its founding was in 1955, when DBS had managed to quickly gain traction from Sierran companies to build its television service as well as that of its commercial rival Daehan Television.
