The Chichetya Rūpavāhinī Corporation (CRC) (จิจเตยั รูปัวาหินี สันสทัวั), also simply known as Rūpavāhinī or simplified as Rupavahini, is the national television network of Chichetya. Gifted by the people of Orience to the people of Chichetya, mainly for the provision of education, information and entertainment.

It operates two channels: Rupavahini in Chichetyan and Channel Eye in English.

History[edit | edit source]

Chichetya Rupavahini started in 1962. The service was set up by the Tohon Electric Company and was supported by the Sok Jai Electrical Appliances store. It was the first of two Rupavahini-branded television channels and made its first broadcast on February 15, 1962.

Rupavahini started color operations while the army service was in black and white owing to its status as an experimental service. Rupavahini was also known as Color TV until 1984 when the army service (Akhana, channel 5) switched to a nationwide color network by breaking Rupavahini's monopoly. By 1990, an estimated 50% of the Chichetyan population were picking up CRC broadcasts. These broadcasts reached much of Rissoma, a country that banned television until 1994, and that was secretly being watched by the Rissoman king.

Between 1980 and 2006, it was responsible for the concession of Channel 7.

A Rupavahini 2 channel launched on UHF in 1998. It absorbed most of the English and Kyongsan television programs that were broadcast by the main channel. The channel was subsequently renamed Channel Eye in 2000.

CRC is, at present, in the middle of aid efforts for the digitalization of its network. Regional television channels for Letchingtang and Jhuki launched in 2014, yet they are seen nationwide.

After the 2019 Jathenkom attack and takeover of Pangcheng Rissoma[edit | edit source]

A terrorist attack in Jathenkom in April 2019 proved to be costly for the maintenance of the television service in the area

On May 10, 2020, Rupavahini forcibly took over the television operations of the former Pangcheng Rissoma in a move considered to be temporary, but risk-taking for diplomatical ties between the two countries.
