South Arlesbury has been prone to high levels of censorship never before seen since the fall of Pro Tect. The government encourages a Moralist perspective and has banned songs, television series, feature-length films and books.

History[edit | edit source]

Censorship by genre[edit | edit source]

South Arlesburian radio is discouraged from broadcasting songs that feature explicit lyrics, including swearing and references to drugs and sex. Instead of broadcasting the so-called "clean" adaptations, they are outright banned as well.

During the age of Pro Tect, almost every Hollywood movie was banned, what little films allowed were on television and subject to censorship by the SABC.

Television[edit | edit source]

Television has extremely high levels of censorship. Certain channels block references to pregnancy, meat, homosexuality, hatred, killing and other things deemed controversial. The offensive words are blocked ad if they were actual swear words. Ironically the SABC has less censorship and allows controversial content to be allowed on television. Skyway Television has censored a lot of these elements, especially due to new administration in the mid-2000s being more conservative.

SABC's sign of protest in 2008 was an overnight playing of the Seven Dirty Words monolog uncut. The main channels played it in protest of the first signs of unusual censorship of Skyway's local and international shows.
