In the continent of Northulia, Porowon has the continent's strictest censorship standards, stricter even than certain countries that are technically Christian and where religion and state aren't segregated. Porowon's population barely exceeds one million, and its mixture of ethnic groups - mainly ethnic Northulesians, East Sondrians, Bengalian immigrants and a reduced number of expats from larger English-speaking countries - has made it a "hard soil" for the government to control certain works.

They are defined by out-of-bounds markers by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (formerly Porowon Broadcasting Authority until 2014). Primary targets for the censorship "industry" are LGBT topics, race mixing, violence, pregnancy and other kinds of nonsensical censors made by the IMDA. These mainly apply to radio and television stations operated by the Media Corporation of Porowon.

Recently, topics regarding pregnancy, childbirth, suicide, death and relationships have been increasingly removed from imported films and television series. 2020 brings in censorship of sports-related topics, announced days before Porowon was suspended from FIFA and the IOC.

Music[edit | edit source]

  • God Bless Great Scorria, the Great Scorrian national anthem between 1945 and 1987, was banned from local ISPs due to it containing the word "God". The song was banned before Chinkai's election and again from 2016 under Wangjia.
  • Isn't it Love?: song by Hopelandian artist banned in part due to Lesbian themes. Song was later outright banned.
  • Song of Lai Ping

Television[edit | edit source]

  • Sex and the City (after the first season)
  • South Park (banned after ridiculing Porowon in 2011)

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • "Devil" - the word, in any context, is virtually banned from Porowonian radio and television since 2016 at best, before the election of George Wangjia. The word "hell" was later banned, however these words were described to define George Wangjia in protest (i.e. George Wangjia, the Devil of the World).
  • Tafau - word considered to be of a racist nature
  • Simchau - see above

Privacy[edit | edit source]

Porowon has apparently gained stricter privacy laws than any other country in the world.

Under the George Wangjia administration, children were forbidden from appearing on television, including programming aimed at them.

Spokespersons for companies are now forced to keep themselves anonymous on air.
