Armandina Televisión Color
Armandina Televisión Color is the state-run television channel of Armandina, being founded in 1953 by what is now ERTA.
History[edit | edit source]
Buildup[edit | edit source]
In April 1952, Cadena Radio Armandina (CARADA), owned by the government, announced that it would start a television station by 1955.
The first broadcast from Sanhuezo, the national capital, was held on October 1, 1953 at 6pm, with a four-hour schedule. About fifty television sets captured the first signal.
Televisión Nacional Armandina (2004-2007)[edit | edit source]
The left-wing Carazo administration passed legislation in April 2003 to reform the state broadcaster as a public broadcaster under the name Radio y Televisión Nacional de Armandina with Canal 7 adopting a numberless name for the first time since May 2000: Televisión Nacional de Armandina. In July, some of the channel's historic programs were removed as a transitional measure.
On January 5, 2004 at 20:00, the new TNA brand was launched, to much praise.
Return to Canal 7, political turmoil[edit | edit source]
The Carazo administration was showing its flaws in late 2006, and by December, an emergency administration wanted to bring TNA back to its apolitical fundamentals, starting a new transitional phase. From January 7 to March 18, 2007, TNA gradually removed much of its "progressive" output, which was transferred to cable network Encuentros, and removed the TeleSUR relays while ceasing funding of the network.
