Antares is a country whose continental location is often disputed as being either Sondrian or Northulic. The country is a republic and Catalan is the widely-spoken language.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The name adopted in 1901 comes from the historical leader of Catalan Nosghel, Joan Antares, of the Antares family, who ruled Antares until 1975.

History[edit | edit source]

End of Monarchy and the adoption of communism[edit | edit source]

By 1972, when Nosghel entered a period of martial law, Antares entered into a phase of turmoil. By December 1973, Antares was living a period known as the Great Depression (Gran Depressió) under which the economy was stagnating and the government was basically inactive. The communist movement Nou Antares took over in 1975. The former royal family moved away, most of the elements moving to Pancos Island in Nosghel.

End of communism and start of the presidential democratic republic[edit | edit source]

In 1990, the Communist regime was defeated and Antares entered a transitional year. In March of 1991, Antares celebrated its first democratic presidential elections.

Government and politics[edit | edit source]

Ricard Santvila i Casagran, president of Antares since 2016

Antares is a decentralized presidential republic in which the president takes the central functions, similar to Nosghel. However, the seven states have their "prime-minister", in which the capital's prime minister also serves as the prime-minister of the whole nation.
