Acarian National Television (ANTV) is the state-run television broadcaster of Acaria, owned by the Acarian National Broadcasting Corporation. It started broadcasting in 1979 as an experimental black and white service that upgraded to color in 1982.

History[edit | edit source]

Using equipment other Bulungian broadcsters saw obsolete, the Acarian government started an experimental ANTV service in May 1979.

In October 1982, with a massive investment fund provided by Television North Arlesbury and the South Bulungian Broadcasting Corporation, the network upgraded to color broadcasts and started broadcasting seven days a week. The country opted for PAL in rejection of the Étiennese SECAM standard. The choice was partly attributed to North Arlesbury's political alignments that resulted in the adoption of the format.

The first successful national television production was Family Problems, a TV movie, produced internally within ANTV, in 1984, the first production made by the Youth March group of actors.

Until 2000 the channel broadcast five hours a day (starting at 19:00), until 2007 six hours a day (starting at 18:00).
